Disney Premier Access (DPA) Guide 2026

Last updated: April 2026 -- Written for foreign visitors to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea

1. What is Disney Premier Access?

Disney Premier Access (DPA) is the paid skip-the-line system at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. You pay per person, per ride, and receive a designated return window (usually 30 to 60 minutes long). When your window arrives, you enter through a dedicated DPA lane and typically wait less than 10 minutes, even when the standby line is 90+ minutes.

DPA is purchased exclusively through the official Tokyo Disney Resort app. You cannot buy it at a physical counter. A credit card linked to the app is required for payment.

2. DPA vs. the Old FastPass

4. How to Buy DPA (Step by Step)

  1. Download the official app -- Search "Tokyo Disney Resort" on the App Store or Google Play. Set language to English.
  2. Create a Disney account -- Register with your email before your visit. Any country's email works.
  3. Link your park ticket -- Scan the QR code on your e-ticket or add your reservation number.
  4. Register a credit card -- Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and Amex are accepted. Register it in advance.
  5. Enter the park -- Scan your QR ticket at the entrance gate. DPA becomes available only after entry.
  6. Open the app and tap "Disney Premier Access" -- Select the ride you want, choose the number of people, and confirm payment.
  7. Receive your return window -- The app assigns a time slot (e.g., 10:30 -- 11:00). Go to the ride during that window.
  8. Scan at the DPA lane -- Show your QR code at the DPA entrance of the ride. You will typically wait under 10 minutes.

5. Typical Sellout Times

DPA availability depends on the day's crowd level. Here are rough benchmarks:

Crowd Level Fantasy Springs rides Soaring / Space Mtn Other rides
Low (Level 1--3) Available until 12:00+ Available until 14:00+ Available all day
Medium (Level 4--6) Sold out by 10:00--11:00 Sold out by 12:00--14:00 Available most of the day
High (Level 7--10) Sold out by 09:15--09:45 Sold out by 10:00--11:00 Sold out by 13:00--15:00

Check today's crowd level on the Crowd Calendar to estimate DPA availability.

6. DPA Strategy for First-Timers

If visiting Tokyo DisneySea:

  1. Immediately after entering the park, buy DPA for Frozen Journey or Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure (whichever you want most).
  2. Head straight to Soaring in the standby line (it will be 30--50 min early morning, versus 90+ min later).
  3. After using your first DPA, buy your second DPA for another Fantasy Springs ride.
  4. Use the rest of the day for standby rides with shorter waits: Indiana Jones, Sindbad, Aquatopia, 20000 Leagues.

If visiting Tokyo Disneyland:

  1. Buy DPA for Space Mountain: The Next Frontier immediately upon entry.
  2. Walk to Beauty and the Beast in standby (shortest wait in the first 30 minutes).
  3. After using Space Mountain DPA, buy DPA for Enchantment of Stitch or Reach for the Stars.
  4. Fill the rest of the day with Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise in standby.

7. Standby Pass (Free, Separate System)

Some attractions use a free Standby Pass on busy days. This is different from DPA. A Standby Pass gives you a time window to join the regular standby line -- you still wait in line, but it controls the flow so the area does not get overcrowded.

Standby Pass is mainly used for Fantasy Springs area access on extremely crowded days and occasionally for popular shows. It is free and obtained through the same app.

Key difference: DPA = paid, skip the line. Standby Pass = free, join the line during your window.

8. Is DPA Worth It?

Strongly recommended if:

  • You are visiting on a busy day (crowd level 5+)
  • You have only one day at the park and want to maximize rides
  • You absolutely must ride Fantasy Springs attractions
  • You are traveling with small children and cannot wait 90+ minutes

You can skip DPA if:

  • You are visiting on a quiet weekday (crowd level 1--3)
  • You arrive at rope drop and are willing to head straight to popular rides
  • You plan to revisit on another day and can spread rides across days

For a family of 4, buying DPA for two rides costs roughly JPY 12,000 -- 20,000 (USD 80 -- 133). That is significant, but it saves 2 -- 3 hours of standing in line, which may be your best investment of the trip.

9. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy DPA for someone else in my group?

Yes. If all tickets are linked in one app account, you can buy DPA for the entire group at once. Each person in the group gets a QR code.

What happens if the ride breaks down during my DPA window?

If the ride is down for an extended period during your window, the app will either extend your window or offer a refund. Check the app's notification area.

Can I buy multiple DPAs at the same time?

No. You can only hold one active DPA at a time. After you use it (or after the window passes), you can purchase the next one. Plan your purchases sequentially.

Does DPA guarantee a specific time?

You cannot choose an exact time. The system assigns the earliest available window when you purchase. The earlier you buy, the earlier your window.

Is there an unlimited DPA pass (like Genie+ at US parks)?

No. Tokyo Disney does not offer an all-you-can-ride pass. Each DPA purchase is for a single ride. There is no equivalent to Disney Genie+ at Tokyo Disney Resort.
