Fantasy Springs Complete Guide 2026
Last updated: April 2026 -- The newest area at Tokyo DisneySea, featuring Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan
1. What is Fantasy Springs?
Fantasy Springs is the eighth themed port at Tokyo DisneySea, and the largest expansion in the park's history. It opened on June 6, 2024, at a cost of approximately 320 billion yen (over USD 2 billion).
The area is themed around three Disney animated films:
- Frozen -- The kingdom of Arendelle, featuring the Frozen Journey boat ride
- Tangled -- Rapunzel's tower and village, featuring the Lantern Festival ride
- Peter Pan -- Never Land, featuring Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure and the Fairy Tinker Bell's Busy Buggies
Fantasy Springs also includes a luxury hotel (Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel), two restaurants, a snack stand, and themed merchandise shops. The area is located behind the Mysterious Island volcano, accessible through a rocky tunnel passage.
2. How to Enter Fantasy Springs
As of 2026, free entry to the area is the default. When Fantasy Springs first opened, a Standby Pass was required just to walk in. That restriction has been lifted for most days.
However, on extremely crowded days (crowd level 8+, major holidays, Golden Week), the park may reinstate Standby Pass for area entry to control congestion. The app will notify you on the day.
Even when you can walk into the area freely, the rides still require either DPA (paid) or a Standby Pass (free) on busy days. On quiet days, you can simply join the standby queue.
3. The 4 Rides
Frozen Journey
Type: Boat ride | Duration: ~6 min | Height: 102 cm+ | DPA: 2,500 yen
A large-scale boat ride through the world of Frozen. You travel through Arendelle, see Anna and Elsa in stunning audio-animatronic form, and experience the "Let It Go" sequence with projection mapping and practical effects. The ride vehicle moves on water and can spin 360 degrees. This is widely considered the most impressive ride in the area and is the hardest to get DPA for.
Rapunzel's Lantern Festival
Type: Boat ride | Duration: ~5 min | Height: None | DPA: 2,500 yen
A romantic gondola ride recreating the lantern scene from Tangled. You float through Flynn and Rapunzel's adventure, culminating in a cavern filled with hundreds of floating lanterns. No height restriction makes this perfect for families with young children. The queue area itself is beautifully themed with Rapunzel's tower.
Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure
Type: Trackless dark ride with 3D elements | Duration: ~6 min | Height: 102 cm+ | DPA: 2,500 yen
The most technologically advanced ride at Tokyo Disney Resort. A trackless vehicle takes you through scenes from Peter Pan with projection mapping, animatronics, and 3D glasses. You "fly" over London and battle Captain Hook. The ride system is similar to Rise of the Resistance at US Disney parks. This is the longest wait on quiet days (often 90+ minutes even at low crowd levels).
Fairy Tinker Bell's Busy Buggies
Type: Spinning ride | Duration: ~2 min | Height: None | DPA: Not available
A gentler spinning ride through Tinker Bell's fairy workshop. Suitable for very young children and riders of all ages. Waits are typically shorter than the other three rides (20--40 minutes on average days). No DPA is available for this ride; standby only.
4. DPA and Standby Pass Strategy
The three major Fantasy Springs rides are among the most difficult to ride at Tokyo Disney Resort. Here is how to maximize your chances:
Priority 1: Buy DPA immediately
The moment you scan your ticket at the DisneySea entrance gate, open the app and buy DPA for your top Fantasy Springs priority. On busy days, Fantasy Springs DPA sells out within 30--45 minutes of park opening.
Priority 2: Get a free Standby Pass for a second ride
After buying DPA, check if free Standby Pass is available for another Fantasy Springs ride. Standby Pass lets you join the regular queue during a specific window. It is free but also runs out quickly.
Priority 3: Use your DPA, then buy a second
After you use your first DPA, you can buy another. If a second Fantasy Springs ride still has DPA available, grab it. Otherwise, consider Soaring or Toy Story Mania.
For the full DPA breakdown including prices and sellout estimates, see the DPA Guide.
5. Restaurants and Snacks
Arendelle Royal Banquet
Type: Table service (Priority Seating required) | Budget: 3,000--5,000 yen per person
A full-service restaurant themed after the Frozen castle. Serves Scandinavian-inspired cuisine with character-themed presentation. This is extremely popular and often fully booked within minutes of the 10:00 AM reservation window opening (one month ahead). English menus are available. Priority Seating (PS) is almost mandatory; walk-ins are rare.
The Snuggly Duckling
Type: Counter service | Budget: 1,000--2,000 yen per person
A casual counter-service spot themed after the pub from Tangled. No reservation needed. Serves sandwiches, bratwursts, and themed drinks. The queue can be long during lunch (11:30--13:30). Try visiting at 14:00 or later for shorter waits.
Lookout Cookout
Type: Snack stand | Budget: 500--1,000 yen
A walk-up window in the Peter Pan area selling turkey legs, smoked meat items, and drinks. Quick and convenient between rides. The turkey leg here is one of the most popular snack items in the entire park.
6. Shops and Merchandise
Fantasy Springs has two main merchandise shops:
- Fluttering Wishes -- Located near Rapunzel's tower. Sells Tangled, Frozen, and Peter Pan themed goods: plush toys, accessories, stationery, and keychains.
- Fairy Tale Treasures -- Located near the area entrance. Carries exclusive Fantasy Springs merchandise including limited-edition pins, apparel, and home goods.
Exclusive Fantasy Springs merchandise (especially limited items) can sell out by mid-afternoon on busy days. If specific merchandise is a priority, visit the shops before 11:00 or after 18:00.
7. Fantasy Springs Hotel
Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel is a luxury hotel physically located inside Fantasy Springs. It is the most expensive Disney Hotel on property, with rooms starting at approximately 100,000 yen per night (about USD 670).
Key benefits for hotel guests:
- Happy Entry -- Enter DisneySea 15 minutes before general opening
- Guaranteed Fantasy Springs access -- Hotel guests can enter the area even on days when Standby Pass is required
- Exclusive restaurant -- The hotel has its own fine-dining restaurant not available to day guests
- Room views -- Some rooms overlook the Fantasy Springs area, including views of the Frozen castle
Two room categories:
- Grand Chateau -- Premium rooms (from ~100,000 yen). Themed after Frozen, Tangled, or Peter Pan. Includes guaranteed Fantasy Springs access and a dedicated check-in area.
- Fantasy Chateau -- Standard rooms (from ~70,000 yen). Elegant but less themed. Same Happy Entry benefit as other Disney Hotels.
Reservations open 6 months in advance and sell out almost immediately, especially the themed Grand Chateau rooms. For booking tips, see the Hotel Guide.
8. Practical Tips for Foreign Visitors
- Set up the app the night before. Register your Disney account, link your ticket, and add a credit card before your park day. You need to act within seconds of park entry to get DPA.
- Arrive 60--90 minutes before opening. The earlier you enter, the earlier you can buy DPA. The difference between entering at 8:55 and 9:05 can mean the difference between getting Frozen Journey DPA or missing it.
- The area is most photogenic at dusk. The Frozen castle and Rapunzel's tower are illuminated after sunset. If you have already ridden the rides, return in the evening for photos.
- Rides operate in Japanese. All ride narration and dialogue is in Japanese. However, the visual storytelling is so strong that language is not a barrier. You will understand everything through the visuals and music.
- Mobile data is important. Wi-Fi in Fantasy Springs can be slow due to the area's popularity. An eSIM or pocket Wi-Fi ensures you can buy DPA and Standby Pass without connectivity issues.
- The area is wheelchair accessible. All walkways are flat or ramped. Frozen Journey and Rapunzel's Lantern Festival can accommodate most wheelchairs with transfer. Check with cast members at each ride entrance.
- Coin lockers are outside the area. There are no lockers inside Fantasy Springs. Use the lockers near the park entrance or in Mediterranean Harbor before heading in.
